Marvin "Stacy" Seay
Marvin “Stacy” Seay Sr., 94, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Born on February 20, 1930, in Person County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late James Irvin Seay Sr. and Cora Holt Seay. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Essie May Seay; daughter, Libby Seay; two sisters, Blanche Dudley and Mildred Ramsey; and four brothers, Herman Seay, Elmer Seay, Talmadge Seay, and James Seay.
Stacy proudly served in the United States Army and was the owner and operator of the Oak Grove Restaurant and Motel in Oak Level. He was a devoted member of Oak Level Baptist Church and had a passion for NASCAR, Western films, and poker. Known for his lively spirit, Stacy enjoyed placing friendly bets on various sporting events and often reminisced about his days of moonshining. Above all, he cherished the time spent with family, particularly during gatherings that brought everyone together.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his four daughters, Teresa Lawson (David), J. Allison Seay, Stacey Keatts (Ricky), and Sara Seay; two sons, Buck Seay and Marshall Seay (Lois); sister, Alice Brown; brother, Ira Seay; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Oak Level Baptist Church, with Pastor Daniel Collins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Veteran Affairs Hospital, the staff at DaVita Dialysis, and his dedicated caregiver, Shirley Jones, for their exceptional care and support over the years.
