Mary Elizabeth Stone

Mary Elizabeth Stone, 87, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned from this earthly life May 26, 2025. She was born September 30, 1937, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Charles R. Stone and Onie Jane Sowder Stone.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Verna Stone, Rosebud Hylton, Edna Cox, Grace Stone Cahill; brothers, Leonard Stone, Charles Stone, William Stone; and niece Carline Rutter.

Mary was of the Christian faith and affiliated with the Baptist church. She attended Martinsville High School and spent over three decades as a loving caregiver for her sisters. She was known for making delicious oatmeal raisin cookies. She loved birds, particularly cardinals. Of all the flowers Mary loved, she had an affinity towards red roses. She will be remembered for the way her life was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Left to cherish her memory are her niece, Eunice Barton; nephew, Toney Souther; numerous great nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 2, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Burial Park.
