Mary Goin Duncan

Mary Goin Duncan, 76, of Salem passed away on June 22, 2024 at the Joseph C. Thomas Center in Salem after a long courageous battle with Alzheimers.

A native of Virginia she was the daughter of Charles and Claircy Goin, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lois Kirk; nephew, Robert Kirk; brother in law, Jack C. Thomas; father of her children, Robert W. Zimmerman; and grandson, Chase H.A. Ertel. She was a graduate of Northside High School, a member of the Red Hat Ladies and Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, line dancing, and anything Elvis. She was a kind and caring woman whose smile lit up the room.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles W. Zimmerman; daughters, Robin Stultz and husband James and Christina Glass and husband Chris; sister, Nancy Thomas; grandchildren, Lauren Zimmerman, Lyla Zimmerman, Jacob Mabry and wife Sarah, Jordon Mabry, and Devin Glass; one great grandson, Vander Mabry; nephew, Jay Thomas; and nieces, Laura Morse, Heather Epperson, Debbie Trout, and Karen Huddleston.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 10:00 until 11:00 am at Sherwood Memorial Park Abbey Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the Abbey Chapel.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Joseph C. Thomas Center for their 6 years of care and compassion and Good Samaritan Hospice for their 1 year of care and compassion.
