Mary Jane Rigney

Mary Jane Rigney, 80, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024. Mary was born on February 15, 1944 to the late Lesslie Adkins Hammock and the late Walter Hammock. She is predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Mr. James Addison Rigney.

Mary Jane was a member of North Danville Church of Christ. She worked for many years at Dan River Mills previous to her retirement. She had a special love for Elvis and her flowers.

Mary Jane is survived by two sons; Troy Rigney (Cheryl) of Chatham, VA and Terry Rigney (Michelle) of Julian, NC; a brother; Ray Hammock; two sisters; Geneva Shelton and Shelby Shelton; two grandchildren; Steven and Matthew Rigney; and a great grandchild; Brody Alan Rigney and a daughter in law; Angel Rigney.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Jane was predeceased by a son; Timothy Rigney; four brothers; Percy, Everett, Stuart and Dudley Hammock; and four sisters; Peggy Hammock, Lena Eastwood, Sally Eanes and Virginia Shelton.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:00am at Salem Church of Christ, 4492 Strawberry Road, Chatham, VA 24531 with Pastor Larry Owen and Minister Hershel Stone officiating. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 10-11:00am.
