Mary Laughlin

Mary Ann Reid Laughlin, age 89, of Bellaire at Stone Port, Harrisonburg, Virginia and formerly of Clifton Forge died Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at her residence.

She was born December 16, 1933 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Russell David Reid and Grace Johnson Reid. She graduated from the C&O Hospital School of Nursing in 1955 and was a registered nurse for 40 plus years for Alleghany Regional Hospital and worked for Dr. Edgar Weaver for a number of years. She was proud to be a Clifton Forge High School Alumni. She was a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church and former President of the Women of the Church for First Presbyterian in Covington and an active member in various women’s clubs. She enjoyed reading and loved women’s basketball.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Edward “Jim” Laughlin in 2022; an infant son, Rusty Laughlin; a brother, David Reid; and a sister, Betty Jo Smith.

She is survived by a son, Reid Laughlin and wife, Sheila of McGaheysville, Va; two grandchildren, Jacob Laughlin and Zac Laughlin; nieces and nephews, Sarah Boblett, Ann Gurley, Chap Smith, Stuart Smith, and Grace Verderosa.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00PM in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge with Reverend Lisa Marshall officiating. Interment will immediately follow. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Stuart Smith, Chap Smith, Jacob Laughlin, Zac Laughlin, Tyler Gurley and Chris Boblett.
