Mary Magdalene Thomas Reynolds

Mrs. Mary Magdalene “Maggie” Thomas Reynolds, 87, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday night, December 24, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Reynolds was born April 9, 1936, in Surry County, one of six children born to the late Richard “Dick” and Ella Martin Thomas. Maggie retired from Spencer’s Inc. after many years of service and attended Fancy Gap Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tony Reynolds, Dennis and Vikki Reynolds, and Richard and Charlie Reynolds; her grandchildren, Richard Reynolds, Jr. and Jenifer Reynolds, Joshua and Morgan Reynolds, Brandi and Elam Summey, Heather Reynolds, Danyelle Reynolds, and Brittany and Trent Young; her great-grandchildren, Austin Reynolds, Cody Bowman, Jamie Bowman, Malori Reynolds, Shane Bowman, Violet Young, Holly Young, Rylan Redden, Cannon Redden, Jett Reynolds, Charlotte Reynolds, Claire Reynolds, and Abel Koehn; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Emma Childress; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Evanda Hoover Reynolds; a daughter, Kathy Akers; a grandson, Christopher Reynolds; and four siblings, Mary Lou Thomas, Edith Marie Thomas, Geraldine “Alene” Easter, and Johnny Thomas. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, NC, with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
