Mary Margaret "Peggy" Jarrell Marshall of Appomattox, Virginia

Mary Margaret “Peggy” Jarrell Marshall, 91, of Appomattox, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Hunter Marshall for 60 years.
Born in Oak Hill, West Virginia, on August 23, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Mary Ellen Jones Jarrell and Ralph Jarrell. She was a founding member of Grace Hills Baptist Church, a member of the choir, and Sunday School teacher. Peggy was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Hamlin High. She graduated Ward-Belmont College and attended West VA University. For many years, she worked alongside her husband at Marshall’s Department Store in Appomattox. Peggy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Woodmen of the World.
She is survived by four sons, Stephen H. Marshall and wife, Mary of Appomattox, David J. Marshall and wife, Susan of Forest, Mark D. Marshall and wife, Janet Bowers of Richmond, and Timothy J. Marshall and wife, Krissy of Woodbridge; seven grandchildren, Mary Ann Simpson (Jady), Grant Marshall (Brittany), Caitlin Gerber (Ryan), Ross Marshall (Lauren), Tyler Marshall (Lauren), Logan Marshall (Heather) and Evan Marshall; 11 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Abigail, Ada, Benjamin, Leah, Elodie, Gentry, Jones, Wyatt, Miles and Reid; and sister, Ellen Gay Moser of Dunedin, FL.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Ralph Jarrell.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Grace Hills Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Gary Dalton. Burial will follow in Reedy Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
