Mary Ojean Norman
Mother Mary Ojean Easley Norman was born September 2, 1943 in West Virginia to the late Samuel Harris Easley, Sr, and Mother Roxie Craig Easley. She departed this life on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Sovah Health-Danville in Danville, VA.
Mother Mary attended Graves Knobs School in Bassett, VA, She later met the love of her life, Deacon George Wallace Norman of Bassett, VA, to whom she married for over 65 years. Together they raised 8 children and everybody else’s children.
While on this earth, Mother Mary Ojean was a faithful member of Way of Truth Holy Church in Martinsville, VA. She was also a member of the usher board, Mother of the Church, President of Missionary Dept. She loved to go to the singings at church, always to sing her praises – Just Another Day That The Lord Has Kept Me, Praise The Lord Every Day, Lord It’s In Your Hands, God Is My Everything, to name a few songs she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above; three sons, Wallace Easley, Paul Norman and Willie “Luke” Norman; three brothers, Samuel Harris, Eddie Craig and James Willie Easley.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories, her husband of 65 years, Deacon George Wallace Norman of the home; 5 children, Norma Jean Norman of the home, Pamela (Gregory) Wimbush of Bassett, VA, Jeffrey (Latoya) Norman of Greensboro, NC, Melissa Norman of Collinsville, VA and Michael Norman of Perth Amboy, NJ; two brothers, Emmanuel Easley of Collinsville, VA and Carl Easley of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Regina Easley of Collinsville, VA and Cynthia Woods of Bassett, VA; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Refuge Temple Ministries Church in Martinsville, where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM with the Dr. Louis Simmons Eulogizing. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens in Martinsville.
