Mary Phillips Botkin

August 14, 1925 - January 7, 2025

Mrs. Mary Phillips Botkin, 99, of Fort Collins, CO, and formerly of Mount Airy, passed away in Fort Collins, CO, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. She was born August 14, 1925, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of Jesse Andrew and Bertha Horton Phillips. Mary retired from Quality Mills, Inc and was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Mount Airy. Mary loved Mount Airy and supported the community in many ways. She served as a step-on guide for tour buses through the Mount Airy Visitors Center. Mary also worked as a docent at the Gertrude Smith House for eight years. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Bruce Scott; her son and daughter-in-law, Martin Randolph “Randy” and Katherine Botkin; and her grandchildren, Bennett Lewis Scott, Michael Botkin, Thomas Botkin, Christine Botkin Jessup. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maj. Henry Arthur Botkin (USAF retired); her foster parents, Martin and Mary Bennett; and her sister, Evelyn Armstrong. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Paul Ridolfi officiating. Entombment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gertrude Smith House, P.O.
