Mary Venezia

Mary Venezia, 98, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at Star City Rehabilitation & Nursing in Roanoke, Virginia. 

Mary was born on August 29, 1926, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Frances (Amplo) and Benjamin Bono. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Arthur Venezia; her brother, Jack (Jake) Bono; and her son, David Venezia. 

Mary is survived by her devoted daughter, Mariel (Michael) Gibbs of Daleville, and her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Venezia of Cape Coral, Florida. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Matthew (Cathy) Gibbs, Michael, and Dana, as well as five great-grandchildren, Audrey and Alex Gibbs, and Michael, Lauren, and Sofia Venezia. 

Mary worked for many years with Strawbridge & Clothier (Clover) until her retirement. In her earlier years, she enjoyed cooking delicious Italian dishes, reading fiction novels, bowling, and gardening. She loved traveling to the Jersey Shore, Las Vegas, Cape Cod, and the Outer Banks each summer with her daughter and family. Mary had a deep appreciation for the music of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Nat King Cole. 

Family was everything to Mary. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Mary will also be deeply missed by the many friends she made throughout her life. 

A private burial is planned for this summer at Calvary Cemetery, 2025 Old Gulph Rd., Villanova, PA 19085.
