Maxene Brown Dickerson of Boones Mill, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at the age of 87. Maxene was a beloved mother, a loving sister, and an amazing grandmother.Maxene was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Dickerson; father, Randolph Brown; mother, Blanch Brooks Brown; brother, Donald Brown; grandchild, James Powell; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Motley and David Sutherland; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Powell.She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Brizendine (Richard); her son, Gerald Powell (Deeana); step-daughter, Sherrin Phillips (Bucky); three grandchildren, Travis Mullins, Laurie Mullins and Phillip Powell; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Graham (Seth), Lindsay Mabry (Jefferey); two great-great-grandchildren, Cole and Raylynn Mabry; two honorary grandchildren, Zola Powell and Melody Powell; two sisters, Marion Sutherland and Dotsie Motley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins; and other special friends.Funeral services will be held at Red Valley United Methodist Church 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
