Melanie Denise Benfield Davis
Melanie Denise Benfield Davis, 65, of Clemmons, North Carolina, transitioned from her earthly home on April 27, 2025. She was born July 1, 1959, in Wiesbaden, Germany to the late Harry Lee Benfield and Eva Eloise Martin Benfield.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnny Calloway Davis, II and her fluffy cat, Sammy.
Melanie was a woman whose life was a beautiful reflection of her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Guam held a special place in her heart, a reminder of the simple joys she cherished growing up. She loved The Lord of The Rings, where themes of courage, loyalty, and hope mirrored the way she lived her own life. Gifted with many talents, she played the piano with grace, sang with a heart full of love, and wrote moving pieces for the VVA (Vietnam Veterans Association). She expressed her creativity through drawing and passed on her skills by teaching her daughters to crochet. In the Kitchen, Melanie created magic; her cherry cheesecake and lasagna became family treasures. With hands that sewed clothes for her children and a heart big enough to welcome anyone as family, she lived a life of selfless love. She fed the hungry, comforted the lonely, and stitched her family tightly together, even through the toughest storms. Strength, integrity, and kindness were her legacy to her children. Through every trial, Melanie’s humor and spark never faded. To know her was to be embraced by unconditional love.
In her quiet moments, Melanie found her greatest peace in the promises of her favorite scripture, Psalm 91. It was her refuge, her strength, and the anchor of her faith.
Psalm 91 (KJV):
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.
