Melissa Kaye Mcbride Peña

Melissa Kaye McBride Peña, 52, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025. She was born January 28, 1973, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Johnny “Buck” McBride and Vickie Lynn Garcia.

She was of the Christian faith and a member of Family Worship Center in Ridgeway, Virginia, where she found love and support in her faith community. She was employed for 25 years as a translator and recruiter for GCA Staffing. She loved cooking and preparing delicious meals. Melissa found joy in helping others and loved her family above everything; they meant the world to her.

Melissa is preceded in death by her lovely mother Vickie Lynn Garcia, her father Johnny “Buck” McBride; her granddaughter Jasper McBride; paternal grandparents, Bill Lawrence and Lois Nunn “Maw Maw.”

She is survived by a host of family and friends, including: her husband, Adan Peña Castillo; daughters, Cecilia Alvarez (Jenaro Rivera), Gloria Alvarez; sons, Dustin McBride, Juan Alvarez (Meredith), Adan Peña Jr., Abrian Peña (Chelsey), Adrian Peña; sister, Kelly M. Balderas; brother, Johnny McBride; grandchildren, Maleah, D.J., Victoria, and Dustin, Jr. McBride; Ayden, Noah, Izabella Alvarez; Cesar, Sergio, Araceli, Ximena, Adrianna Alvarez; Adan Jr., Ariel, Paula, Alora Peña; grandmother, Nancy Gregory; nieces and nephews, Fransisca Hernandez, Jennifer Cano, Maria Balderas, Reina Balderas, and Martin Balderas, and Petra Balderas.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the service.
