Melissa Mattox

Melissa Lynn Mattox, age 62, formerly of 15 Botany Drive, Eagle Rock, Virginia, died on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the Alleghany Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge.
Melissa was born on April 19, 1963 in Staunton, Virginia and a child of the late Reverend William C. Mattox, Jr. and Ada Tindell Mattox. She was a 1981 graduate of Alleghany High School and Radford University, where she received her B.A. in Business Administration and Finance. She was a member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church, and a self-employed caregiver. She lived a life full of color, never met a stranger, and was a devoted mother and grandmother who instilled her values in her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Mattox.
Melissa is survived by her daughter, Lauren Mattox-Lindsay of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Larry Mattox (Kathy) of Louisa and Nathan Mattox (Mendy) of Virginia Beach; a granddaughter, Willow Lindsay; and a number of friends, including special friends, Teresa Oxentango-Meyer and Debra Rutherford.
In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 3:00 PM in the Clifton Forge Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Collie and Reverend Manny Hernandez officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of service. A bereavement dinner will be served following the service.
