Michael Alan Randall

Michael Alan Randall, age 88, of Christiansburg, died, Monday, February 24, 2025, at his home. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa on December 24, 1936, to the late Frank and Leona Smith Randall. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Jaynes and Elizabeth Wilson. Mike volunteered as an enlisted man in the armed forces at the age of 18. During his service to his country, he served in the Republic of South Vietnam on three separate occasions. He was awarded three bronze stars, numerous service medals, and the Expert Infantryman’s Badge. He successfully completed the U.S. Army Ranger and Airborne (parachutist) training. He worked his way up through the ranks and retired as a Major in the regular Army in 1982. While in the military, Mike attained a bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska, a masters degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a certificate of advanced graduate studies from the College of William and Mary. He is survived by his wife, Joyce J. Randall; son, Zachary A. Randall (Sabine); daughter, Stephanie L. Davis (Chuck); stepson, Walter L. Blount (Robin); stepdaughter, Amanda B. Cottone (Greg); grandchildren, Madelyn, Gavin, Dominic, Angelica, Michael, and Presley. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Don Leonard officiating. Interment will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
