Michael Eugene Brown
Michael Euguene Brown, 69, of Bassett, VA, left his earthly home on July 29, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born April 1st, 1955, in Bassett, VA, to the late Lyburn Brown and Joyce Ann Armstrong.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jarvia “Ruth” Brown and his stepfather James O. Armstrong. Paternal grandparents, Alton and Olivia Brown. Maternal grandparents, Charlie and Audrey Martin.
Michael was a graduate of J.D. Bassett High School and achieved a state championship title in wrestling. He graduated in 1973 as one of the first integrated classes at J.D. Bassett High School, which made history. He dedicated 4 years of his life to serving his country in the Marine Corps. Michael was offered numerous opportunities throughout his life; however, the one that stands out is when he was asked to protect the president of the United States. Michael’s response was, “I am not taking a bullet for nobody!!!”
Michael leaves to cherish his memories through his daughter, Michelle Sheree (Timothy) Moore. Nine grandchildren: Timothy, Lamonte, Shiquane, Tyreek, Ja’Ron, Ja’Quan, Michael, Jamarion, and JaZaria Moore. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren. His loving, caring, and dedicated mother, Joyce Ann Armstrong. His siblings are Donnie (Samantha) Brown, Kevin (Patricia) Brown, Jeffrey Brown, Joseph (Shalita) Armstrong, Lashawn (James) Rumley, Terry Lovique Armstrong, and Barbara (Tameka) Carter. He also leaves to cherish a host of special uncles and aunts: Gertrude Baker, Vickiey Burnette, and Evie Lou Edmonds, and two special uncles, Clarence (Slue) Williamson and Harry Edmonds, as well as nieces, nephews, family, friends, and special caregivers.
