Michael James Morris

 On Friday, December 6, 2024, Michael James Morris, 53, of Danville, VA, reached the end of his earthly journey and arrived in his heavenly home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 17, 1971, in Martinsville, VA to the late Linda Lineberry Spicer and James “Crow” Turner, Jr.

Mike was an active member of Stokesland Church where he proudly served as a deacon. He loved his family and was a devoted PawPaw to his grandchildren. As his illness progressed and he wasn’t able to be as active as in previous years, he cherished time with the family, especially the grandchildren. He enjoyed the time he spent in the company of his pastor and friend, Lee Von Eime, drinking coffee and just visiting. He had a special fondness for animals especially, Paint, his devoted companion.

Mike is survived by his wife of 10 years, Angela Bates Morris, of the residence; seven children, Haylie Stevens (Jason), Josh Lambert, Makayla Carroll, Carrie Carter (B.J.), Dara Pettiford (Antwann), Donald Bates (Leah), Andrea Sandlin (John); nine grandchildren, Lydia, Nova, Abel, Elijah, Elizabeth, Andrew, Vivienne, McKinley, and Jayce; one sister, Anjel Hodge (Jerry); four brothers, Wayne Morris (Bobbi), James Turner, John Turner (Jess), and Caleb Turner; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a dearly loved nephew, Joseph Dowell.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. with visitation at 2:00 p.m. at Stokesland Church, 130 Taylor Street, Danville, VA. Pastor Lee Von Eime will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the residence.
