Michael Lee Poynter, 40, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024. He was born September 2, 1983, in Martinsville, Virginia.Michael was a 2001 Magna Vista High School graduate. He loved to cook and try new recipes, especially authentic Mexican food. When it came to food and cooking, Michael loved hot and spicy food. He was always encouraging his children to try new things, such as food and music. He had an outstanding shoe collection of over four hundred pairs of shoes. Michael loved the New York Jets and NASCAR. He took his relationships with family and friends very seriously. He loved his children dearly and was a hard-working, witty, man. He was a kindhearted person, the type that wouldn’t even honk in traffic. He was not confrontational; he would wait for hours, just to ensure he was always being kind. He had tremendous manners, and a smile that could brighten any room. You wouldn’t have met someone that was as humble and generous as Michael. He didn’t see anything other than the person, he didn’t see color, wealth, sobriety, hunger, need, or anything else, he saw only the person. There was no one quite like him.
