Michael "Mickey" Lee Badgett
Mr. Michael “Mickey” Lee Badgett, 80, of Mount Airy, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, July 8, 2024. He was born in Surry County, January 29, 1944, to the late Floyd and Anna Ree Atkinson Badgett. Mickey was a graduate of Surry Central High School, class of 1962, and he was a veteran of the Army National Guard where he served for six years. Mickey was a dedicated machine mechanic for over 40 years for a local hosiery business.
He was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and as deacon. Mickey’s life reflected his faith to his family and friends, no matter if he was at home, work, church or on the golf course with many of his special friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Inez Beasley Badgett; two daughters, Kimberly (Joey) Blackburn, Ashley (David) Fulk; grandchildren, Savannah Blackburn, Nolan Blackburn, Blake Fulk, and Nathanael Fulk; brother Donald (Jean) Badgett and sister-in-law, Peggy Isabell Marshall; and many other special friends and family. Mickey was preceded in death by a brother Joe Frank (Peggy) Badgett and a sister-in-law Betty Lou Marshall.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Community Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Quesinberry officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, service at 2 PM, burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
The Badgett family would like to express their gratitude to the congregation of Community Baptist Church for all the friendship, prayers, and love given to them. Also, a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Twelve Oaks Assisted Living for the care and support given to Mr. Badgett and the family during his illness.
