Michael Wayne Parks

Michael Wayne Parks (Mike) age 57 of Rocky Mount, passed peacefully at home on the morning of May 1, 2023. He was born in Tampa, FL to the late Ernest Coy Parks and Matilda Jean Ford; and at the age of 7, he and his family relocated to the little mountain community of Endicott. Mike, a devoted husband, grandpa, brother and friend, is survived by his forever wife of 38 years, Teresa; step-daughter, Jessica Harlow; grandchildren, Holly, Iris, and Leon; brothers, Jack Parks (Rhonda), Kevin Parks; sister, Michele Hairston (Marvin); many devoted nieces and nephews, and his faithful dogs: PJ, Hawkeye and Pixie. Upon graduation from FCHS in 1984, Mike worked mainly as a sub-contractor in various places until most recently with his faithful boss, Dallas Collins at SML. Mike was a very hardworking, kind-hearted, peaceful man who made friends easily and loved his family. He fought a courageous fight with cancer this past year, during which we considered him a warrior and a winner.Very special thanks to many devoted friends and family who were always there to support and make things easier through Mike’s journey: All the doctors and nurses at Blue Ridge Cancer Center, CRMH and CFMH, Carolyn and Darrin Swihart, Bonnie Ingram and Roger, Dallas Collins, Lori Greer, Robert and Dianna Barrows, Susan and Jeffrey Keltto, long-time friends: Jim and Becky Ellis and many more. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Flora Funeral Service to assist with final expenses.
