Mildred Catherine Richie

Mildred Catherine Richie, 80, of Danville, Va. passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. She was born in Danville, Virginia on July 1, 1945, to David Washington Crowder and Mildred Irene Bray.

She is survived by her son, Edward Lee Jacobs; daughter, Penny Carol Maurakis; sisters, Rebecca Moore and Barbara “Louise” Lowery; brother, David Crowder; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Mildred worked at Dan River Mills for 32 years.

She loved her family and she loved Jesus. She enjoyed reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. She worked hard to stay healthy and enjoyed walking.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 109 Broad Street Martinsville, Virginia on Friday, January 9, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2025, at McKee-Stone and will be officiated by Pastor Ray Mintz. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
