Minerva Rosa Negron Ramsey
Minerva Rosa Negron Ramsey of Monroe, Virginia, passed away at 7 Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing on August, 19th, 2025. Minerva was born on January 28th, 1924 in San Juan Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of the late Angel Negron Baez and Secundina Rosa Menendez. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. As a young woman Minerva grew up in Puerto Rico and was one of 14 children. She is survived by one sister Nilda Benitez. Eventually she met the love of her life, the late Mert Ramsey. They were married in Puerto Rico while he was serving a 5- year tour in the Army. Minerva and Mert were married for 78 years. Together they had 3 daughters: the late Helen Parker married to Buddy and she had 2 daughters, the late Pamela Dawn Camden and Lori Anne Browder Padgett (Kevin). Millie Sizer married to Donnie and their children Shelley Sizer Woodroof (John) and John Sizer. Sherry Patton married to Jeff and their children Blayne Patton (Brittney), the late Cory Patton, and their daughter Bryce Patton.Minerva enjoyed raising their family, cooking Puerto Rican dishes, and taking care of their home. She enjoyed going back to Puerto Rico each winter to visit her large extended family. While there she soaked up the sunshine and sat under the “coconut” trees which grew along the beaches. Her most favorite thing of all was visiting her grand-children and great grand-children which include Conner, Ethan, and Courtney Padgett, Jacob and Madison Woodroof, Matthew and Lainey Sizer, and Stone and Grey Patton. Our Heavenly Father blessed her with a very long life and called her home to be with all of the others who have passed before her.The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at 7 Hills Nursing for taking such good care of her in her final years of life. A special thanks to all of the family members who helped her remain at home until her last few years. It took a village and all of your support was very much appreciated!There will be a private family celebration of life in her honor at the residence of Jeff and Sherry Patton. Minerva will be buried alongside Mert at the Amherst Cemetery in Amherst, Virginia.
