Mollie Jean Coffey Kirby
Mollie Jean “Granny” Coffey Kirby, 90 of Lynch Station entered her heavenly home on Thursday, October 2, 2025. She was born April 22, 1935, a daughter of the late Jesse Coffey and Joyce Ritson Coffey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas “Bill” Kirby, her grandson, James Kirby, her sisters, Elsie Foster, Mildred Cox, Jessie Coffey, Bernice Kirby, Margaret St. John and her brothers, Garner Coffey, George Coffey, Arthur Coffey, Andrew Coffey.
Granny graduated from Altavista High School and was a member of Altavista Baptist Tabernacle.
She is survived by her children, Peggy Catron, Judy Cordle (David), Tommy Kirby (Melinda), Sandra Patterson (Billy), Donna Brown (Leonard); her brother Fred Coffey of Lynchburg and sister, Ammie Keatts of Danville and sister-in-law Sandra Coffey of Madison Heights. Also surviving are her grandchildren Laura McKirahan, Kevin Thomas (Crystal), Eric Thomas (Leslie), Josh Kirby (Megan), Sara Kirby, Hayley Kirby, Holly Roberts, Taylor Hatcher (Neal), Melissa Patterson (friend Ai Prachumsri), Michelle Hensley (Brian) as well as her great grandchildren Kayleigh McKirahan, Daniel McKirahan, Brian Thomas (friend Katie Moore), Benjamin Holt, William Thomas, Noah Thomas, Chloe Kirby, Erin Kirby, Evan Kirby, Reagan Hensley, Peyton Hensley, Trace Yarborough, Easton Hatcher and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 6, 2025 at Altavista Baptist Tabernacle with Pastor W. L. Pillow officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, 17440 Wyatts Way, Evington, VA 24550. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 AM at the church.
