Monica Dawn Mccollum Dalton

Monica Dawn McCollum Dalton, 29 with ten years’ experience, died peacefully at home on July 25th, 2025, after a too brief fight with cancer. She was born in Danville, Virginia on May 18th, 1986, the daughter of David (deceased) and Melissa McCollum. She was a 2004 honors graduate of Halifax County High School.

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jesse Dalton, and their 2 children, Peyton (18) and Landon (9); her mother, Melissa McCollum; her sisters Debra Nelson and Deanna McCollum; and her beloved niece Colum Rose.

“Monka” was the light in many lives. She was a dearly loved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and coworker and her loved ones appreciate all your prayers. She believed that a smile could change the world and that it would help if you had a coffee first.

A memorial service will be held Sunday August 3, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Turnpike Danville, Virginia with Pastor Walter Yancey officiating. The family will receive friends preceding the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer Association, an organization that provides support to patients and loved ones suffering from this terrible disease.
