Monterey Jolson Wood

Monterey Jolson Wood, Jr. “Monty”, 63, of Rustburg, VA passed away on July 6, 2023, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loved ones. As a skilled automobile mechanic by trade, Monty loved to work with his hands and was known for his ability to repair just about anything. In addition to keeping the vehicles of family and friends running smoothly, he enjoyed working in his yard, spending time with his family and taking care of his beloved potbellied pig, Bella. Born on September 11, 1959, Monty grew up in Lynchburg, VA and attended E. C. Glass High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monterey Jolson Wood, Sr. and Dorothy Dietz Wood. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy Wood; his daughter, Crystal Leigh Wood; his son, Monterey Jolson Wood, III; mother-in-law, Anne Wingfield; granddaughters, Brittany Johnson and Raven Cooper; his sisters, Donna Wood, Teresa Byers and Pamela Stephenson (Elmo); and special friends of the family John Scruggs and Mike Jones.
