Myrtle Rebecca Carter

Myrtle “Becky” Rebecca Thore Carter, 85, of Martinsville, Va. passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. She was born September 16, 1939, in Martinsville to the late William Robert Thore and Pearlie Louise Hutchin Thore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Bobby Lee Carter; grandson, Robby Lee Carter; granddaughter, Kristen Leigh Mills and long-time friend and companion, Wayne “Fuzzy” Smith.

She is survived by her son, Tracy Lee Carter (Tammy Clark); daughter, Janet Mills (Patrick); grandson, Bobby Lee Carter; granddaughter, Sierra Mills Martin (Ethan); great grandsons, Gavin Carter and Brayden Martin; sisters, Patsy Gauldin Mann and Jean Hairfield (Mike).

Becky had retired from Bassett Walker Knitting Company and was of the Baptist faith. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, dancing and shopping.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm on Friday, August 22, 2025, at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 12:30 pm at the Carter Family Cemetery in Martinsville, Va. and will be officiated by Wally Richardson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martinsville Henry County SPCA, 132 Joseph Martin Hwy, Martinsville, VA 24112.
