Nancy A. Scott

Nancy A. Scott, 91, of Collinsville, VA, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Mulberry Creek Nursing Home. She was born on February 8, 1933, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Samuel Hopkins and Leola Campbell Vernon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Elmo G. Scott; one son, Robert G. Scott; one sister, Thelma Byrant; and one brother, Herman Hopkins.

Nancy was a housewife and a Certified Nurse’s Aide. She was a member of the Chatham Heights Church of Christ. She loved spending time with her family, and when she was not with them, she enjoyed finding a local yard sale.

Left to cherish Nancy’s memories are two sons, Donald Scott (Gloria) of Axton, Va., and Timothy Scott (Jean) of Stuart, Va.; one daughter, Michelle Hopkins (Kenny) of Fieldale, Va.; one daughter-in-law, Donna Scott of Figsboro, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor J.D. Harmon and Pastor Shaun Draun officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. A burial will follow in Henry Memorial Park.

The family would like to say thank you to her home caregivers, Mulberry Creek Nursing Home Staff and Mountain Valley Hospice, for their professional care during her illness.
