Nancy Antoinette McGhee
Nancy Brown McGhee, 84, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away at Kings Grant Retirement Community, Monday, April 22, 2024. She was born January 31, 1940, in Pulaski, Virginia, to the late Robert I. Brown and Dorrence Chumbley Brown.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-seven years, Lawrence Dale McGhee, Sr.Nancy was awarded her Master of Science from Radford University. She was a dedicated Special Education Teacher and a school psychologist. Nancy was the choir director for Fieldale United Methodist Church, and she taught handbells at First Baptist Church of Collinsville. After her retirement, she and Dale traveled throughout forty-nine out of fifty states. She loved music which aided in her singing in the choir, and her ability to organize and teach bell choir in Florida. Nancy enjoyed crocheting and cross stitching.She is survived by her son, John Patrick Nance and her daughter in law Cheryl, of Hollywood, Maryland; stepdaughters, Pamela Brewer (Wayne), of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Paige M. Hardy, of Stoneville, North Carolina; step son, Lawrence Dale McGhee, Jr., of Durham, North Carolina; brother, Robert Clay Brown (Sonita), of New Jersey; grandchildren, Elizabeth Nance Jones (Keith), of Alabama, Michael Robert Nance (Amanda), of Tennessee; step grandson, Chase M. Brewer; and great granddaughter, Isla Jean Nance.The memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Collinsville with Larry Cheek officiating.
