Nancy Barnes Criswell

October 20, 1949 - February 7, 2025

Nancy Louise Barnes Criswell left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 7, 2025. She was born in Danville, VA on October 20, 1949, to the late Bonnie Mae Pollard Barnes and Lancaster George Barnes. She was the youngest of three, a sister, the late Angela Payne (Marvin), and a brother, the late Roy Barnes (Gail).

In 1973, she married her lifelong partner and husband O M Criswell the 3rd (Mabry). They shared 51 years together.

She has two children that survives her, a son, Brandon Todd Criswell, and a daughter Kellee C Wilkerson. Nancy has 4 four granddaughters, and three great-granddaughters with one on the way.

Nancy spent a lot of time enjoying sports as a teen, and that love continued throughout her life. She played fast-pitch women’s softball and was rumored to had been very tough to beat. She developed a love for baseball and became a team mother for one of the teams her son, Todd played for. She was at every game. She was a die-hard Yankee fan for baseball and the Pittsburgh Steelers kept her attention in football.

She was a hairdresser for many years and an avid volunteer during the early 2000s at Danville Regional Medical Center. She studied to get her CDL license and then worked for the Pittsylvania County School System as a bus driver. She loved to sing in the church choir and spent most of her life serving God with her music ministry. She had a God-given gift of song and an angelic voice that would resonate with people long after they heard her sing. Her voice has impacted people everywhere.
