Nancy Jane Hare

Nancy Jane Littell Hare, 77, wife of Ronald R. Hare, passed from this life on Thursday, May 22, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Henry Littell and the late Nancy Powell Cohen. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, who raised her, Joseph Cohen.

Jane was born in Washington, DC and raised in Richmond, Virginia where she graduated from John Marshall High School and Smithdeal-Massey Business School. She moved to Roanoke, Virginia in 1978 and has been a resident of Botetourt County since 1988.

She worked for ATA in Washington, DC then became a homemaker to be near her children and finished her career at Botetourt Telephone Company. Upon Retiring she traveled with her husband throughout Europe, England, Scotland, Mexico, Ireland, and Argentina.

Jane never met a stranger and enjoyed living life to the fullest.

In addition to her husband of 57 years, Ronald R. Hare, she will be missed and remembered by her daughters, Laura Michelle Hare and Jennifer Marie Hare; granddaughters, Rachael Marie French, Reagan Elizabeth French, and Veronica Jayne Graves; sisters, Betty Mitchell (Fred) and Marcia Ross (Robert).

Services to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
