Nancy Moschler Motley
Nancy Moschler Motley, 100, passed away on January 5, 2025. Nancy was born in Java, VA on September 28, 1924, to the late Macye Yeatts Moschler and the late Leland Aubrey Moschler. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, Mr. Herman Judson Motley, whom she married on December 27, 1952.
Nancy was a graduate of Callands High School, Phillips Business College, and Magna Cum Laude graduate of Danville Community College. She retired from the Pittsylvania County School System, having previously worked for Federal Loan Bank of Baltimore and Virginia Power Company. She was a active member of Chatham Presbyterian Church and had served as an Elder. She was a former member of Weal Presbyterian church where she held several different offices. She was a former member of a Home Demonstration Club, Garden Club, Red Cross, and Pittsylvania Co. Food Bank Board.
Nancy is survived by two granddaughters; Deborah B. Seward (Mark) and Elizabeth M. Allen (Matt); four great grandchildren; Hunter and Kaitlyn Seward, Mia Popolo and Brayden Allen; and two great great grandchildren; Kaynaan and Cohen Seward; son in law; Donnie Doss; and daughter in law; Shelia Motley.
In addition to her loving husband and parents, Nancy was predeceased by three children; James Hammer (Joyce) Giles Motley, and Ann Doss.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11:00am, at Chatham Presbyterian Church, Main Street Chatham, VA with Pastor Mikel Pugh officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Burial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 6-7:30pm at Norris Chatham Chapel, 147 S. Main Street, Chatham, VA. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence of her granddaughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Allen at 118 Whittle Street, Chatham, VA 24531.
