Nancy Okes Scott

Nancy Okes Scott, 85 years old, of Christiansburg, Virginia left this life on January 6, 2025 under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke.

Nancy was born in Summers County, West Virginia, on June 16, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Carl Owen Okes and Ruby Basham Okes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Franklin Delano Scott (“Scotty”); three brothers, Leslie Carl Okes, Luther Ray Okes and William Hugh Okes; and a sister, Wilma Okes Sheppard.

She is survived by two sons, Jed L. (Margaret) Scott of Salem, VA, Gary D. (Melissa) Scott of Salem, VA and a daughter, Tammy S. King of Christiansburg, VA; by a sister, Wilda Linkous of Dublin, VA; and grandchildren, Travis (Monika) Scott, Ryan (Taylor) Capps, Elizabeth Capps (Massih Saheli), Afton (Alec) Manning, Scott King, and Tori King.

In March of 1959, Nancy and Scotty moved to Lynchburg, VA where she was employed as a bookkeeper at Lynchburg General Hospital. Her and Scotty also owned Brentwood Mobile Home Park in Lynchburg where she also managed their business. Nancy had a wonderful sense of humor, and it stayed until her final days. She will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 1:00PM at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, Lynchburg, VA, with Dr. Frank Landrey presiding. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from Noon to 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at the Virginia Memorial Park Mausoleum, Forest, VA.
