Nannie Mae Farmer

Nannie Mae Farmer, 87, of Martinsville, Virgina passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1937, in Axton, Virginia to the late Curtis B. Moxley Sr. and Effie Moore Moxley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Byrd Farmer; one daughter, Effie Ann Farmer; and four brothers, Douglas W. Moxley, Michael Moxley, and Curtis B. Moxley Jr, and Franklin Moxley.

Nannie was an avid reader who found great joy in literature. She cherished her Baptist faith and eagerly awaited the day she would hear the Lord say, “Well done, my child.” She had a true caregiver’s heart and was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She adored her beloved dog, Buddy, and treasured time spent with family and friends. Nannie had a passion for shopping, enjoyed sitting on the porch during the warm months, and took great pleasure in planting flowers with her cousin. She found fulfillment in preparing meals for loved ones and she was known for her resilience, bravery, unwavering faith, and appreciation for everything.

Nannie is survived by her two daughters, Lucy Lee Farmer of Martinsville, Virginia and Dollie Glenn of Stuart, Virginia; three grandchildren, Dustin, Melissa, and Steven Jr. “Chub”; and three great grandchildren, Raygan Lynn, Joanna Mae, Justin, Jr. “JJ”.

The graveside service will be held Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Roselawn Burial Park, with Pastor Phillip Wood officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel.

The family kindly requests that all attendees bring at least one flower to the services, to honor Mrs. Nannie Farmer.
