Nannie Sarah Guynn

August 22, 1933 - June 20, 2023

On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, Nannie Sarah Guynn passed away at the age of 89. Nannie was born on August 25, 1933 in Princeton, West Virginia. Nannie’s soul was fed by a needle and thread/yarn. She could not keep her hands still. She rarely kept things she made because she loved sharing them with friends and family most. She quilted, crocheted and knitted. She had a knack for being creative including making her grandchildren’s Halloween costumes when they were young, dolls, angels, and clothes (including her daughter’s prom dress). She had a great passion for making turbans for cancer patients and pillows for breast cancer patients as she herself was a breast cancer survivor. She also had a green thumb and loved her plants, both inside and outside. You could often see her planting flowers, tomatoes and pulling weeds - even at 89! Lastly, she loved feeding the birds and enjoyed watching them outside or at her window. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Garland David “Bud” Guynn; parents, Lonnie and Fannie McBride; four brothers and three sisters, Jimmy McBride, Willard McBride, Freddie McBride, Gary McBride, Patricia McBride, Georgia Brady, and Mary Dunagun; and is survived by her loving daughter, Connie Guynn Houff and husband Gary Houff (her favorite son-in-law); two granddaughters, Sarah Houff Doss and husband Matthew Doss, Callie Houff Webb and husband Shane Webb; two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter, Jackson Doss, David Doss, and Guynn Webb; one brother and two sisters, Sonny McBride, Mildred Flagle, and Edith Smith; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 by Pastor Rob Colwell at Three Oaks Fellowship United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Three Oaks Fellowship United Methodist Church.
