Ned Barbee Bane

Ned Barbee Bane Jr, born on May 17, 1951, peacefully went to his heavenly home on December 11, 2025. Ned was an honor student at Pulaski High School where he graduated in 1969.

Ned served as an Acolyte for Christ Episcopal Church in Pulaski through his school years. Ned attended Virginia Tech for 2 years then transferred to Radford University where he majored in Journalism. Ned returned to Radford in the mid 1990’s. He graduated in 1995 with a Master’s Degree in Psychology. After his graduation from Radford, Ned worked with local papers including the Radford News Messenger where he was promoted to editor. Ned held editor positions at several publications such as the Manchester Union Leader In Manchester, New Hampshire, The Charlottesville Daily Progress and the New Orleans Times Picayune in New Orleans.

Ned was an accomplished guitarist and played with several local rock and roll bands in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Distance running was another one of Ned’s passions. He competed in marathons including The New York City Marathon, the Chicago Marathon and the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C.

The Bane Family is in the loving care of Norris Funeral Services Pulaski Chapel located at 815 Randolph Ave, Pulaski, VA 24301. There will be no services at this time.
