Obituary of Nell H. Bowman

Nell H. Bowman, 89, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 1, 2022.  She was preceded by her husband, Julius "Randy" Bowman and her brothers and sisters.

Nell loved music and was a music major and graduate of Concord College.  For many years she taught piano and organ at Leeds Music Center. She also served for 20 years as organist at Lakeside Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children, Rand (Lisa) Bowman, Julie Bowman Willie (Johnny), Kelly (Steve) Baum; grandchildren, Melissa (Mikey) Beaudoin, Melanie (Austin) Davis, Travis (Lindsey) Bowman, Trevor (Kaitlyn) Bowman, Ashley (John) Beason, Dustin (Debbie) Womack, Carrie (Ben) Radford, and Garrett (Sarah) Baum; fourteen great grandchildren; longtime friend, Ann Dooley; and nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Childrens' Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Lakeside Baptist Church by Pastor Carl Goodman.  Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home 3912 Electric Road.  540-632-4200
