Nina Lilly

Nina Thornton Lilly, 49, transitioned to her eternal home Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Stanleytown in Bassett, Virginia. She was born June 2, 1976, to David Michael Thornton and the late Yvonne Donovant Thornton in Martinsville, Virginia.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother Michael David Thornton.

Nina was of the Christian faith and attended Jones Chapel Church of the Brethren. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Martinsville, Temple #23. She attended Fieldale-Collinsville High School in Collinsville. She loved to color pictures and play UNO, but she really enjoyed spending time with her very special high school friends, Kathy Norris and Marie Nixon. While Nina may be gone, the impact of her life is far from over.

She is survived by her husband, Jason Lilly; her only son, Alexander Hunter Scott; sister-in-law, Donna Tatum Thornton; aunts, Judy Stilwell, Linda Stanfield; nephews, Shawn Thornton, Brandon Thornton; special cousins, Jennifer Thornton, Carmen Osgood, Teresa Rowe, Frank Thornton, Angie Moxley, Amanda Kight, and Chris Hundley.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Dr. J.D. Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
