Paige Aylor McQuade

January 24, 1969 - May 1, 2024

Paige Aylor McQuade, age 55, of Raleigh NC, entered into the arms of Jesus at WakeMed in Raleigh on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Paige was born the second daughter of Oscar Ramsey Aylor and Kathleen Turner Aylor in Montgomery AL on January 24, 1969. She grew up in the communities of Boone and Marion NC and graduated from Quisqueya Christian School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in 1987 where her parents were medical missionaries. She went on to receive her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Appalachian State University in 1991, followed by ten years of teaching elementary children in the public schools of Western North Carolina.

Paige always loved little children and they loved her. She was happiest when she was teaching them reading and helping with their social skills. She loved Jesus, her family, cooking, poetry, and her pets. At one point, Paige was even thinking seriously of writing her own cookbook! She had a helpful, creative, and compassionate nature, along with a joyful and grateful spirit. With her unique sense of humor and imagination, she had a way of making everyone laugh at the silliest things in the world around us. In her later years she developed a number of health problems that robbed her of physical energy, but she always retained her interest in her loved ones and friends. She was especially devoted to her two boys. One of her special gifts was listening and being available to help her own family in times of personal trials. Two of Paige's favorite Scripture references were Acts 2:28 and 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 because she thought they applied especially to her.

She is survived by her husband, Jim McQuade of the home, and two sons, Alex Dalton, 25, of High Point and Noah Dalton, 23, of Raleigh. Also surviving are her parents, Oscar & Kathleen Aylor of Palmyra VA, and two sisters, Jeannie Aylor Adams of Richmond VA and RobinAnn Aylor Apicella of Crozet VA. Many uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive to honor and treasure her memory.

Paige's life will be celebrated by her immediate family and friends at a graveside service in Chatham VA on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Officiating will be the Rev. Jerry Currin.

The family appreciates flowers sent in care of Norris Funeral Services in Chatham, but also suggests donations to the Lucy Brock Child Development Lab at Appalachian State University, P.O. Box 32167, Boone NC 28608, or the charity of your choice.
