Pamela Sue Owen Shelton
Pamela Sue Owen Shelton, 76, of Danville, Virginia, gained her angel wings on Friday, January 3, 2025, after a long battle with dementia and a sudden decline in her health. Surrounded by her loving family at home, Pam passed peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Pam was born on November 4, 1948, in Danville, Virginia, to the late Benton James Owen and Geneva Scearce Owen. She was the beloved wife of Michael “Mike” White Shelton, with whom she shared 54 beautiful years of marriage.
A devoted member of Blairs Baptist Church, Pam’s faith was central to her life. Over the years, she worked for the late Eugene Link, The Danville Register & Bee, Crane Tire Company, Warrco, Inc., and Commonwealth Home Healthcare before retiring to focus on her family and the joys of life.
In her retirement, Pam, with Mike by her side, embraced her role as a grandmother and found joy in traveling to the beach, watching Elvis impersonators, and sharing her radiant smile with everyone around her. These moments created lasting memories for Mike, who will forever cherish calling Pam his “Dollbaby.”
Pam is survived by her husband, Mike, her daughters Heather Hair (Shannon) and Megan Adkins (Matthew), and her five grandsons: Jackson and Dawson Hair, and Kolton, Noah, and Ryker Adkins. She is also survived by her brother, James Wayne Owen (Shirley), her sister, Susan Owen Moore (Tommy), both of Danville, Virginia, and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Pam was predeceased by her sister, Elinor Goodaker.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Blairs Baptist Church, 5260 US 29 Bus, Blairs, VA 24527, officiated by Pastor John Lester. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The Shelton family extends heartfelt gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassionate care, with special thanks to Crystal, Deborah, Diana, Nikki, Liz Davis, Liz Haithock, and Sue for their unwavering dedication.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Central & Western Virginia) or the Blairs Baptist Church Building Fund, honoring Pam’s memory.
