Patricia Alderman Buckland
Patricia Ann Alderman Buckland, of Narrows Virginia affectionately known as Pat, was a beacon of warmth and love to all who knew her. Born on June 24, 1950, in Christiansburg, VA, she brought joy and compassion into the world. Pat's journey on Earth came to a peaceful end on July 11, 2025, in Roanoke VA. Her legacy, imbued with kindness and care, will be treasured by her family, friends, and community.
Pat was the cherished daughter of the late Robert and Pearl Smith Alderman. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, including her brothers Ray and Hank Alderman; sisters Muriel and Belinda Alderman; and a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law including Shirley Parcell, Frances Alderman, Glordea Alderman, Judy Wheeler, and Connie Wheeler who held her in high regard. Her journey was enriched by her marriage to the late Danny Ray Buckland, with whom she shared a life full of love and mutual respect. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Arnold Alderman, Early Alderman, Bobby Alderman, Ersell Alderman, and Betty Hanks; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol Layman, Marie Conley, Vickie Alderman, Allen Wheeler, Randall Wheeler, Virgil Wheeler, Robert Wheeler, and Perry Wheeler.
A devoted mother to her daughter, Lori Bridges, married to Eric, Pat's love and guidance were the cornerstones of their family. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Tyler and Garrett Bridges, with whom she shared countless moments of laughter, wisdom, and delight. Pat's nurturing spirit extended to her many nieces and nephews.
Pat's professional life was marked by her dutiful service at Celanese, where she was known for her strong work ethic and amiable nature. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her active membership at Riverview Baptist Church, where she formed lasting friendships and served her community with humility and grace.
Her passions were simple yet profound. Pat found solace in the rhythms of her garden, where she cultivated beauty and life with every plant she nurtured. Baking was another of Pat's talents, and she took great pleasure in sharing her delicious creations with loved ones. Conversations with her grandchildren were treasured moments, filled with laughter and learning. Pat's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and her regular attendance at church was a testament to her unwavering belief. Keeping informed, she was an avid watcher of the news, always keen to understand the world around her.
The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM in Riverview Baptist Church. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Riverview Baptist Church with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating.
