Patricia Cashara Compton

November 13, 1944 - May 27, 2025

Patricia Cashara Compton, 80, of Madison Heights, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on November 13, 1944, in Kingston, New York, she was the beloved daughter of the late Louis M. and Adeline A. Cashara.

Patricia dedicated more than three decades of her life to the medical community, serving as the head of the Radiology Department at both Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital. Her professional excellence was matched by her personal devotion—Patricia was a tireless caregiver to those she loved, tenderly caring for her parents, her mother-in-law, and her husband throughout the years.

Above all, Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured her family deeply and found immense joy in attending her grandsons’ football and baseball games—always cheering from the sidelines with pride and love. She also loved spending time at the beach, soaking up the sun and listening to the waves.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Ronald J. Compton; her daughter, Gina C. Craun and husband Charles; and two cherished grandsons, Charles Craun and Coy Craun. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her and in the lives she touched through her compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Patricia’s in-home caregivers and to Westminster Home Hospice for the comfort and care provided during her final days.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel, with her grandson, Charles Craun, officiating. Inurnment will follow on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Hurt, Virginia. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a reception following the service on June 28, 2025 at their home: 2254 Elon Road, Madison Heights, VA 24572.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Westminster at Home, Health and Hospice Services, 3311 Old Forest Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24501, or online at www.westminsterathome.com, in memory of Patricia’s enduring spirit of care and compassion.
