Patricia "Pat" (Pugh) Ellett
Patricia Anne Pugh Ellett, 86, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on March 14, 1939, “Pat” was the daughter of the late Gladys Catherine Penny Pugh and Allie Lassie Pugh.
She was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA with her late brother, Preston Wayne Pugh, and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pat attended E.C. Glass High School. She and her husband owned and operated Peters’ Newsstand in downtown Lynchburg and she finished her career at Belk, where she worked for many years. Pat was a proud member of the Lynchburg chapter of Sweet Adelines, Barbershop Women’s Chorus, for over 40 years. Earlier in life, she was a member of College Hill Baptist Church and, later, Timberlake United Methodist Church.
Pat was known for her great sense of humor, beautiful smile, and love of people. She had an impeccable sense of fashion and enjoyed shopping. Pat and her husband spent many years visiting Myrtle Beach and Smith Mountain Lake, where they made wonderful memories and lasting friendships.
Pat was the wife of the late Lester E. Ellett, Jr., for fifty-six years. Pat is survived by her three daughters: Deborah E. Elliott and her children, Robert R. Elliott and Patricia Elliott; Vicky E. Sprinkle (Randy) and their children, Amanda Morgan Hendricks (Josh) and Lauren Fastiggi (Nick); and Tamara E. Simonton (Robert) and their children, Cory Stinnett and Allison Simonton. She was also a great-grandmother to Hayden and Logan Hendricks, Jaxson Creasy, Christian and Emma Fastiggi, and Makayla and Sylas Stinnett. Pat is also survived by sisters-in-law Sybil E. Kesterson (Ernie), Margie Pugh, and Mary E. Lucas (Jay).
Pat enjoyed many friendships throughout her life. She had many childhood friends including Linda Scott Stinnett, who was like a sister and predeceased her, and Pat Rhodenheizer Lovern. She had many work friends/family at Belk including Carol Tyree, Ann Woody, and Gail Freeman. Pat had a special friendship with her neighbors of over 50 years, Emily and the late Bill Toler. She also considered her fellow Sweet Adelines as family, with whom she enjoyed many trips and events. Pat’s family would also like to extend their love and gratitude to the Heritage Green and Valley View staff, and special caregivers Frankie E. Dalton, Kathleen Wilsey, and Melissa Berger.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, located at 7404 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 1:30 pm followed by a visitation/reception.
