Patricia Satterfield Walden

August 13, 1945 - April 6, 2025

Patricia Satterfield Walden, 79, passed away on April 6, 2025, at Sovah Health, Danville, VA. Mrs. Walden was born on August 13, 1945, to the late Wilson Satterfield and the late Virginia Long Satterfield, formerly of Alton, VA. After graduation from Halifax County High School in 1963, she married John Samuel Walden, III of Scottsburg, VA, who survives, of the residence. She lived most of her life in the Mount Hermon Community and was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church.

Survived by her loving spouse of 56 years John “Sam” Walden, Daughter Donna Nester and husband Earl, son Johnny Walden and wife Sarah. Also survived by five grandchildren, Cassidy Gunter, Dillon Elliott, Cody Walden, Cora Liggon, and Katlyne Nester and two great grandchildren, Jackson Pruitt and Asher Gunter. Brothers George “Sammy” Satterfield of South Boston, Eugene Satterfield of Alton, and Owen Satterfield of Halifax and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also pre deceased by a sister Estelle S Williams.

Mrs. Walden enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She served her community through the Danville Jaycettes and the Boy and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren playing softball, baseball and soccer. She loved shopping, talking on the telephone and going out to eat. She was a devoted wife and Mother who lived her life to take care of her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Mt. Hermon Fire and Rescue, 4268 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Hermon Chapel of Norris Funeral Services, 3995 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA, with Pastor Joey Bray officiating. Interment will follow at Olive Branch United Methodist Church, 2099 Wilkins Road, Alton, VA 24520. The family will receive friends on the same day prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., also at Norris Mt. Hermon chapel.
