Patricia Sowell Wright

Patricia “Patsy” Ann Sowell Wright, 75, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born on June 27, 1950 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Margaret L. Sowell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Funky” Own Wright.

Patsy loved arts and crafts and was known for making beautiful wreaths, especially at Christmas. She loved anything that had to do with Christmas and always made it special for her family. She loved going to the movies with her family and friends and she was an avid Gnome collector (having hundreds to be exact).

She is survived by her children, Crystal Wright, David Whitmore (Theresa), Scott Wright, and Corey Wright (Melissa); grandchildren, Jocelyn Boyd, Brittany Whitmore, Tyler Whitmore, Chris Wright, Corey Wright Jr. (Brooke), Hilary Wingfield, Kim Shaner (Joel); eight great grandchildren; and her siblings, Vanessa Williams (Harry), Eva Morris (Ronnie), Susan Sowell and Tim Sowell (Lisa).

A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park officiated by W.L. Pillow, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
