Patsy Gray Portis

Mrs. Patsy Gray Shambley Portis, 87, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Mt. Airy. She was born in Forsyth County on October 29, 1936, to the late John and Betty Parries Shambley. Mrs. Portis retired from Franklin Elementary School and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Portis Tickle and James; a sister-in-law, Evie Dean Shambley; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Portis was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Christopher Portis; a son, Tony Gray Portis; a sister, Annabelle Gravley; a brother, John Wayne Shambley. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Portis Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
