Patsy Jean Midkiff Loftis
Mrs. Patsy Jean Midkiff Loftis, age 91 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, February 24, 2026, at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation in Elkin. Mrs. Loftis was born on February 20, 1935, in Surry County to the late Charles Carl Midkiff, Sr and Mary Savannah Sutphin Midkiff. She was a faithful, lifelong member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church and was the pianist there for almost 60 years. She retired from Hanes Corp. Patsy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her husband of 74 years, James Beamer Loftis; daughter and son-in-law, Denise Loftis Glace and Dr. Charles Lawrence Glace; grandchildren, James William Glace, Christopher Lawrence Glace and wife Leah; one great-grandson, Elliot Michael Glace; two sisters, Sara Midkiff Smith, Reva Midkiff Flippin; a cousin, David Smith and extended family and friends, Michael Midkiff, Jr. and wife Suzanne, and Mason Midkiff. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Loftis was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnnie Lee Midkiff, and Charles Carl Midkiff, Jr. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mount Airy with Dr. David Sparks officiating. Interment will follow in the Midkiff Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church, 120 Pentecostal Holiness Church Road, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.
