Paul Wright
Mr. Paul Lewis Wright, age 82, of Covington, passed away and went to be with his Lord on August 9, 2024. He was the husband of Betty Lowe Wright to whom he was married to for fifty-nine years.
Mr. Wright was born August 18, 1941 to the late Gordon and Helen Wright. He served his country as a member of the Army Reserves for twenty nine years. He was employed as a mechanic by the former Hercules Inc. Paul loved to travel, taking two missionary trips to Mexico and spending twenty months in the Panama Canal as well as going to Grand Bahama Island. He and his family also took several cross country road trips where he saw such places as Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone and Carlsbad Caverns. Mr. Wright was a member of Pinnell United Methodist Church and was a lay speaker who spoke at many churches over the years. Paul was a member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as the Covington Masonic Lodge #171 AF & AM.
In addition to his loving wife, Betty, Mr. Wright is survived by two sons, Paul (Skipper) Wright, Jr. and William Shane Wright, both of Covington; a granddaughter, Emily Parr; his grandchildren "his three redheads", Brayle Parr, Sonalee Parr and Ainsley Parr and Hunter Fosco who were his life; four sisters, Linda Sartain (Bud), Kathy Wash (Jim), Charlotte Wright and Tammy Loving; three brothers, Larry Wright (Cindy), Jonny Wright (Stella) and Marty Wright; his sisters-in-law, Pat Wright and Virginia Padgett; his special family, Ellen Fischer, Kim Smallwood and Karen Bowyer; and a special caregiver, Nadine Cardwell
In addition to his parents, Gordon and Helen Wright, Mr. Wright was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Fridley and Brenda Tolley and one brother, Wayne Wright.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. David Brown officiating, assisted by Rev. Doug Hollenbeck. Interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery.
Military rites will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon at Loving Funeral Home by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday evening by Covington Masonic Lodge #171 AF & AM.
Pallbearers will be Al Fox, Johnny Wright, Larry Fosco, Clay Lowe, Jeff Lowe and Justus Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Tucker, Blue Lockart, Larry Wright, Jim Haynes, Leo Carpenter, Richard Mynes.
