Peggy Epperly Howell

March 20, 1934 - February 14, 2025

Peggy Anne Howell, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 14, 2025. She was at home and surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Floyd, VA in 1934 and was one of six children born to the late Joshua and Ada Correll Epperly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Gaye, and Edna May; her brothers, Marvin and William; and her husband, Kenneth.

Peggy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She worked for General Electric for more than 30 years, where she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Howell. They were married for 38 years prior to his passing. She loved to shop at her favorite store, Macy’s and she insisted on having her hair done every week.

She will be missed and remembered by her sister, Faye; her son, Derek and his wife Melanie; daughters, Jill (Jay), and Sue; her grandchildren, Eliana (Marko), Derek “DJ” (Lexie), Noah, Jeremiah, Laila, Anthony “Bud” (Katie),Adrian, Ben, Lynne (Jessee);great-grandchildren, Knox, Aiken, and soon to come, great-granddaughter, Stella; as well as many amazing nieces and nephews. Some family members who helped in her care, Adrian, Joyce, and Bonnie.; special friends, Ruth, Heather, Donna, and Lindall, all of whom were like family to her and many other special friends too numerous to mention.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff at Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the wonderful care that was shown to Peggy and the entire family. She loved all of them and especially her CNA, with who she had a special bond.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road. Inurnment will be private.
