Peggy Gillenwater

Peggy Gillenwater, 89, of Ridgeway, VA passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. She was born on November 18, 1936, in Ridgeway, VA to the late Paul Stratton and Sally Higgs Stratton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gillenwater; granddaughter, Kimberly Brown; sisters, Barbara and Tootsie; and brother, Paul "Buzzy." 

Mrs. Gillenwater was a faithful servant of God who loved the Lord with all her heart. Peggy found great joy in singing and dancing, and she cherished every moment spent with her family and loved ones. She had a gift for making others laugh, often sharing warm stories and kind, loving words that brought comfort and happiness to those around her. Peggy was also an avid NASCAR fan, enjoying the excitement and thrill of the sport. 

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Wanda Brown (Brady), Sharmane Smith, and Gloria Gravely; sister, Betty Jean; brothers, Ernie and Cecil; grandchildren, Randall Taylor and Jamie Brown; great-grandchildren, Olivia Fowler (Kipp), and Hannah Byrd; and great-great-grandchild, Astrid Fowler.
