Pete Hamilton

Mr. Harold Delane “Pete” Hamilton, age 89 of Cana, VA passed away on Tuesday December 10, 2024, at Wythe County Community Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1935, in Grayson County, VA to the late Nina Ann Taylor Haumacher. He retired from Lowes Hardware and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Pete proudly served our country in the US Air Force. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and LP Thompkins; two sisters, Neina Draughn and Benney Rickard; and several other family and friends. In addition to his mother, Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Marylue Berrier Hamilton; and his stepfather, Jack Haumacher. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 13, 2024 at 1:00pm at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Buster Sechrist officiating. The family will receive friends at Oak Ridge Baptist Church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites provided by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and Mount Airy Post 2019.
